Community Groups

At MSCC, we strive to live out our four priorities of Growing in Christ, Community, Caring, and Service. Our goal is to not be people who “do church,” but to “be the church” and change the world in which we live.

We encourage everyone who attends MSCC (and any of your friends) to join a MSCC community group. Our community groups offer many options on day/time/location.  And there is sure to be one that will fit your scheduling needs. Can’t find a group that meets your needs, offer to host a group and that problem is solved.

The main goal of these groups is to promote connection of current and future MSCC families, serve the needs that arise, grow spiritually, celebrate life and pray together.

Our groups run seasonally with varying topics.  We offer three seasons throughout the year:  Winter, Spring, and Fall.  Signup times are offered; however we encourage you to jump into a group as soon as you are able.  Why offer signup times then? Our sign up times are helpful for focused efforts on promotion of groups and ease of movement within the groups (if desired).

MSCC Small Group Values

“Growing in Christ, Community, Caring, and Service. One group at a time.”

1. Spiritual Growth
2. Valuing All – invite, invite, invite
3. People of love and acceptance – model Christian relationships
4. Discover and use gifts for God’s purpose and glory

Growing in Christ – WE BELIEVE every Christian should commit to a lifestyle of consistent spiritual growth and genuine integrity. Therefore, discipleship through small groups, prayer, accountability, and speaking the truth in love are central to the maturing of our faith. (Acts 2:42-47; 1 Peter 2:2; 1 Timothy 4:7-8)

Inviting Community – WE BELIEVE a simple, culturally relevant communication of the Gospel will impact and transform lives. (Acts 17:22-34; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23) WE BELIEVE every child, youth, adult and family matters to God. Christians and non-Christians alike are eternally valuable to God and His Kingdom and are to us as well. Responsible evangelism, prayer, and intentional spiritual growth form the core of our purpose. (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Peter 3:9) WE BELIEVE the most effective outreach happens by people inviting people, a life reaching a life. Evangelism/outreach is a normal, natural lifestyle process of reaching out to people one by one. (John 1:43-45; John 4:28-30)

Caring Community – WE BELIEVE genuine love and caring relationships are the hallmark of the Church. We therefore refuse to give audience to a complaining or critical spirit, while we seek to be a people of love and acceptance, who pursue healthy relationships and comfort the discouraged. We seek to resolve conflicts as soon as possible, always with the goal of reconciliation. (Galatians 6:1-5; Matthew 18:15-18; Romans 16:17; 1 Peter 3:8-9; Ephesians 4:3; 1 Corinthians 13:8)

Serving Community – WE BELIEVE that every Christian is a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who has given us spiritual gifts to be discovered, developed and deployed in ministry. We are a gift-based, volunteer-driven church. WE BELIEVE the key to discovering our purpose, fulfillment and joy in Christ is found in serving in the ministry He has empowered and called us to. One of the purposes of the Church is to help us discover our spiritual gifts and use them in ministry. We also believe in developing and providing training for emerging ministry leaders. (Ephesians 2:10; 4:11-6; 1 Peter 2:4-9; 1 Timothy 3:1; 2 Timothy 2:2; Titus 1:5-9; Mark 10:45; 1 Corinthians 12: Romans 12)
